The Celox campaign was launched in the summer of 2015, following the battle of Kobané and the formation of the International Liberation Battalion. While money was quickly raised and first batches of CELOX were purchased, it took several months for Secours Rouge International to ensure a secure supply line between Europe and the International Liberation Battalion. The supply was therefore increased, and the Celox were thus widely used in 2017, during the great offensive against the Islamic state, which culminated, in October of that year, in the capture of Raqqa, the Caliphate’s capital.
When the IFB was fully equipped, the Celoxes were supplied in 2018 and 2019 to the Yezidi women’s units defending their region in the Shengal Mountains and to other women’s units in Rojava, as well as to Kurdish youth volunteers. The last massive use of CELOX took place during the battles of Serekanie and Till Temir, with the resistance to the Turkish invasion of October-November 2019. The latest beneficiaries of the Celox campaign, in November 2020, are the Women Fighters of the Armenian Battalion.
War is not over, and we continue to collect money and raise awareness on the revolution in Rojava, on the women’s revolution and the general situation in Kurdistan.
